Guyyys! It's been a minute......but just know we've missed you too.
    The sunny Nairobi weather makes it feel like summer time all the time ama? Throwing on a skater and playing around with different looks has never been more fun. Skaters have a way of making you feel free, chic and fabulous. You just seem ready to go about town and liven up every street and sidewalk.
     Easily dressed up or down for any season, this little number is probably the most flattering item in your closet regardless of your body type. It adds curves where there’re not, synches in your waist and creates long legs due to its high waist and mini cut. Since the Skater Skirt has become a Trend in its own right, the styles and looks one can get with this mini flared little thing are a dime a dozen. The fabrics and patterns are simply limitless (there's probably one out there made of newspaper or pure plastic) it comes in so many styles and designs #MySkaterMychoice.
  So we sprinkled some of our StyleBuds " fairy dust" on our skater looks and this is what we came up with.

OLD GOLD

        Why hello there buds! Week's going great we hope.
   Today we seek vintage. Investing in a vintage garment in our opinion is totally worth your while. First of all rest assured that you will NEVER walk into a room to find another person wearing the same thing you are (it's kinda like owning a unicorn you can wear.) The most special vintage is entirely unique and bursting with whimsical details that cannot be accurately reproduced; the prints, the pintucks, the buttons... there just isn't anything like them.  Every find is like finding treasure.
   Vintage clothing is more than just "old used clothes"  or  new unworn clothes, it is art and history combined. Being artists and art enthusiasts we find vintage clothing helps us create,showcase and express our individual artistry through our style.
    Make a classic statement by pairing a silk oversize vintage shirt with a pair of skinny jeans and heels or sneaker wedges to keep your outfit fresh and urban. Feel free to raid your parents closet for a neat find you never know what cool threads may lie in there.
    

      Vintage is simply special. It just is. Old is Gold after all.

FLORAL FUNK

           Floral is traditionally seen to be a very feminine trend, which is probably why some people may find it difficult to wear. Not to scare you or anything buuuuut..... it can easily disguise itself to look a little too little-girlish,you know, like you’re about to throw on your back pack and skip off to your first day of kindergarten with your adorable pigtails. No need to worry though, if worn right, it can also very easily be dressed up and made to look more sophisticated and trendy.
           
          What we love about today's take on the floral trend is the fact that the patterns are larger and the colors are more vibrant which breathes life into your closet,while making these pieces flattering on everyone.And we mean everyone! Whether on a pair of pants, a dress, skirt,top or jacket the floral print is timeless and bold.
     
         We chose different approaches when it came to this print.Kimberly wore a skater skirt with a brush floral print channeling the funky fashion of the 80's.

               Cindy chose to wear a 60's inspired shift dress with a large floral print(side note: style time travel is super fun :-D)

SLEEVELESS BLISS

        
         Hey buddy bud buds! Hope everyone's fine and dandy. As far as 'fashion law' is concerned, every individual has 'the right to bare arms' (see what we did there);plus size, slender, tall,short....basically as long as you're human this law applies to you. That being said, there are those among us who are quite skeptical when it comes to exercising this particular right for one reason or another the most common reason being "thick arm". Sleeveless items are not only perfect for bright sunny days, they are also super comfortable and easily styled. Now listen CAREFULLY.......Just because you don’t have Michelle Obama's biceps doesn’t mean you have to suddenly sacrifice your style and comfort! It's all a matter of confidence and proper styling.
  
     Here's how we decided to flaunt our "thick arms".

PATTERN POLITE

        Happpy New Year buds!!!! Here's hoping the year has started off great for each and every one of you and that you're all managing to staying true to your new years resolutions thus far (mhm...we see you). Now on to the first post of the year.... shall we?
         Ever get tired of wearing only solid colours? Well the simple solution to this is mixing it up a little by adding patterns to your day to day outfits. You see, patterns add some dimension, texture, and visual interest to whatever you’re wearing and makes your outfit look less military and more chic.
         Lets say you have a cute top or bottom with an amazing print but your unsure on how to wear it because you feel like it's a bit too out there; no worries dearie...all you need to do is pair it with a solid colour that pops and voilà! You have an outfit that makes you look super stylish but in a subtle and comfortable way. You can choose to dress it up by throwing on a pair of heels or dress it down with a pretty pair of flats and accessorize. The patterns we chose to incorporate into our outfits were paisley and floral.
           
                

             
Keep in mind that smaller scale patterns are easier to pair with other patterns and bold colors. Larger patterns need to be on their own, otherwise your outfit may look too busy and clash.
